Marbling on Fabric Many natural liquid pigments were obtained from different dye plants and dye insects. The pigments were used on silk fabric such as paper marbiling technique.

Madder (Rubia tinctorum L.), cochineal (Dactylopius coccus Costa), weld (Reseda luteola L.), woad (Isatis tinctoria or Indigofera tinctoria L.), dyer’s oak (Quercus infectoria) and many liquid natural pigments were used on silk fabric.
